Assisted Dying and the Catholic Church – Presentations

On Saturday 8th February the Diocesan Pro-Life Office hosted a study day at St Joseph’s Church in Kilmarnock on the topic of Assisted Dying and Church teaching. We were very fortunate to be joined in the morning by Fr Daniel Fitzpatrick from the Diocese of Paisley who spoke on the topic of ‘Ars Moriendi’ (The Art of Dying) – looking at Church teaching around life, and the sanctity of life from conception through to natural death, before going on to look at some of the issues assisted dying presents.

In the afternoon we were joined by Dr Gordon Macdonald, CEO of Care not Killing, who spoke on the legislation itself and the risks it poses, particularly in the light of experience in other legislatures.

If you weren’t able to join the day in person or online, you can hear both presentations below. We apologise for some intermittent audio issues which occurred during Fr Dan’s presentation.
